transmediale is an annual festival bringing together artists, researchers, thinkers, and activists, working on art, digital culture, and socio-political transformation.
Marking its 40th anniversary, transmediale RFC 40 presents a festival and an exhibition. Curated by Barbara Cueto and under the title groundstates, the festival’s programme will take place during the last week of January 2027 in silent green Kulturquartier. The exhibition fragile currents is curated by Antonina Stebur and will be on show at the Akademie der Künste (Hanseatenweg) until March.

with eeefff - July 2026 – January 2027Lattice LabsThe Labs function as infrastructures for collective inquiry in preparation of the festival: running in the months before the festival, they bring artists and researchers together for sustained cycles of critical discussion and collaborative making. The labs are already running across different online and offline locations. Prototypes are being produced, and tools and projects test and articulate shared languages to organise, resist, and live otherwise.
Our sister festival CTM will be celebrating their 28th edition from 22 to 31 January, 2027. Under the title process...ing, the upcoming edition shifts its attention to what process means in its different iterations, resisting closure and elevating the collective acts of making and sharing above the polished artifact. In a world that demands finished results, they choose to remain unfinished, in relation, and present. More than ever, the festival programming will be a momentary manifestation of sustained conversations, collaborations, and exchanges, driven by a multiplicity of voices in dialogue.
In Death by Sun, multidisciplinary artist Tianzhuo Chen places the sun at the centre of a journey through mythology, technology, and the contested futures of solar energy.
