No Signal, Still Watching

No Signal, Still Watching, tm x Emerging Eye Network studio event, November 2025 slide

An evening of short films and moving-image installations presented by transmediale in cooperation with the Emerging Eye Network.

Mark Fisher writes that β€œthe sensation of the eerie occurs either when there is something present when there should be nothing, or [there is] nothing present when there should be something". This screening explores that sensation – the uncanny intersections of presence and absence. Film itself is a spectral medium, existing in the in-between, a not-quite presence. In an age defined by disembodied communication and bodiless technological agents, the eerie lurks as a dimension of mediation, perception, and surveillance. Around us hums the ghostly persistence of technology and the sleepless presence of the network. How do we navigate a world that is both hyper-visible and ghosted? What forms of agency does the eerie contain within it?

Featuring works by Elisa Jule Braun, Vanessa Gravenor, Zeno Gries, Laura Leppert, Miljana Nikovic, Stefanie Schwarzwimmer, Hara Shin, and Stefania Smolkina.
