Emergent Conditions Artist Talk & SΓ©ance

How much agency does an artist retain when working with generative systems and trained models? What happens when the process itself becomes as significant as the result?

In this artist talk, Amanda E. Metzger, Laura Benech and Zeno Gries share insights into their works and current research, moving beyond the finished piece to discuss process and method.

Emergent Conditions brings together three works at the intersection of artistic and scientific research, reflecting on the tensions and bridges that emerge from new capacities acquired by synthetic agents, including very human qualities such as memory and voice. Drawing from cybernetics and critical AI studies to neuroscience and memory studies, the works make visible the growing co-constitution of subjectivity between human experience and technological systems.

transmediale studio will be open 3 November from 18:00 to 22:00. 4 – 8 November opening times will be from 14:00 to 20:00. Access via the studio main entrance, located in the silent green historical building. Free admission.
