Petja Ivanova, eco-feeling infrastructure

Paprika Nails is a lecture-performance that begins from an invisible force: the subtle magnetism through which bodies recognise one another and find orientation. Out of this field of attunement emerge sculptural press-on nails, each embedded with an NFC tag that opens fragments of dream diaries, geo-somatic notes, bodily recordings with landscapes, and reflections on tenderness as a counter-force to anxiety and drift.

Unfolding as a one-on-one exchange in a nail-salon-like setting, the work treats the finger as both sensor and index – a site where touch, selection, and navigation converge. The digital is activated through fingering rather than screens, through proximity rather than command. The nails function as talismans and as interfaces within interfaces, offering a way of indexing knowledge through the body. Paprika Nails frames intimacy as infra·structure and proposes the heart as a compassing organ for navigating ecological and ancestral terrains, inviting participants to feel the world as water feels – through contact, permeability, and flow.
