Katja Davar is an artist working at the intersection of drawing and animation. Trained as a painter, drawing is the undeniable core of Davar’s practice though she regularly expands the field of drawing into other dimensions most often through drawing projections and animated films. Her subtle and poetic practice encompass large scale paper and textile works as well as installations composed of signs borrowed from literature, politics, geology and science. Her work is informed by broad cultural research and she frequently includes references that trace visible and invisible connections that link the past to the present. Davar builds collaged worlds reflecting her ongoing focus on the relationship between new technologies, nature and society.
