latency.club

latency.club is the collaborative practice of artist Nestor Siré and anthropologist-filmmaker Steffen Köhn, operating between Berlin, Havana, and elsewhere. Working across art, cinema, and ethnography, they explore how people build, modify, and repurpose technological systems under conditions of scarcity, exclusion, and control. They treat technologies not as tools but as mythologies sites where power, imagination, and ideology entangle.

Their immersive, expanded-cinema installations emerge from long-term fieldwork and speculative worldbuilding, tracing how infrastructures digital, political, or spiritual are reinvented from below. Latency is both their method and their metaphor: the gap between signal and response, the delay in networks and transactions that exposes the system; the pause between the global network and its local reinventions, where something human or haunted leaks through. In anthropology and psychoanalysis, latency is the hidden, the not-yet-manifest, the undercurrent of culture a layered resonance that suits a collective working between research and art. In this delay, they look for the architectures of resistance, the informal economies, and the vernacular forms of innovation that sustain everyday life.
