PiratbyrÄn
PiratbyrÄn began in 2003 as a mockery of the copyright industry lobby group AntipiratbyrÄn. It soon became involved in major net politics, partly by launching The Pirate Bay, a BitTorrent search engine. Beyond this, in its daily chat sessions and public stunts, PiratbyrÄn was an ongoing investigation into the ways in which internet culture was transforming friendship, music, politics, and life. Its art interventions include S23M at Manifesta 7 and The Embassy of Piracy at the Internet Pavilion for the 2009 Venice Biennial.
