Mimi Schmidl (b. 1998) is an artist and filmmaker based in Vienna, working across 3D animation, video, digital performance, and installation. Their work mixes footage of physical spaces – a bourgeois theatre, a soon-to-be-privatized lot, or their grandma's cellar – with digitally animated elements intervening in them. These interventions ask who inhabits those spaces, how this is negotiated, and how that can be pushed or resisted. Mimi's work has been exhibited at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Ars Electronica, and Diagonale.
