What is the currency for the cultural enterprise of the future? Cultural producers and artists produce a multiplicity of values, most of which are immaterial and emerge from the social networks of cultural practitioners and their relation to the public: respect, appreciation or knowledge are the main resources. Cultural production basically happens through the support of numerous micro-economies which apply different currency systems such as bartering or contact brokering. On this basis cultural values develop which at best are beneficial to our entire society. But what flows back to the cultural producers? It is difficult to translate cultural values into adequate market values: how do you determine the economical value of cultural work? Which currency systems are available here? And, the other way around: how much is culture actually worth for us today?

Welche Währung hat das Kulturunternehmen der Zukunft? Kulturarbeiter und Künstler produzieren eine Vielfalt von Werten von zum Großteil immaterieller Natur und gehen aus den sozialen Netzwerken der Kulturarbeiter und deren Verhältnis zu ihrem Publikum hervor: Respekt, Anerkennung oder Wissen sind die Ressourcen, die hier häufig zum Einsatz kommen. Die kulturelle Produktion wird von zahlreichen Mikro-Ökonomien getragen, die wiederum mit unterschiedlichen Währungssystemen arbeiten - etwa dem Tauschhandel oder der Vermittlung von Kontakten. Auf dieser Basis entstehen kulturelle Werte, von denen im besten Fall unsere gesamte Gesellschaft profitiert. Was aber fließt davon wieder an die Kulturschaffenden zurück? Schwierig wird es, wenn kulturelle Werte in adäquate Marktpreise übertragen werden sollen: wie ermittelt man den ökonomischen Wert von kultureller Arbeit? Welche Währungssysteme stehen uns hierbei zur Verfügung? Und, umgekehrt gefragt: wieviel ist uns Kultur heute eigentlich wert?
