installations are on view in the two festival venues and will be activated periodically

Purgatory EDIT by Ali Akbar Mehta is an interactive installation consisting of a user-generated montage-based cinematic experience with a media archive at its core. It features a participant-driven cyber performance held daily. Each session offers a 1:1 interactive experience with the installation, incorporating EEG headgear and XR glasses.
Artists whose work materialises the destabilisation of proximity and closeness have been invited to occupy the public spaces of HKW. These installations will be periodically activated through performances, presentations, conversations, and film.
Set in a crash-test centre of the future, Felicity Hammond’s installation Dark Adaptation and an accompanying performance depict an evolutionary regression of the autonomous vehicle: one in which its sensors are hacked to collide with the fleshy rhythms of data that emerge from the human body. As a reference to the thousands of balloons carrying waste sent by North Korea, Hana Yoo’s installation uses the playful form of this item to explore the ambiguity of the medium and its message.
Hamishi Farah presents a painting that extends from the history of Western portraiture as it pertains to depictions of the ruling classes and their ideologies. Farah's work queries the point at which the racial dialectic in painting approaches an ideological limit or exhausts itself, questioning what political possibilities remain in contemporary portraiture.
